The Vaugondy cartographers consisting of father Robert de Vaugondy and son, Didier Robert de Vaugondy made a substantial contribution to the eighteenth century world of cartography and flourished from 1731 to 1778. Didier Robert de Vaugondy was appointed geographer of the King by Louis XV.
This Vaugondy globe – based on a 1700s globe – is displayed on vintage silver stand accented in nickel-plated brass. Black and ivory gores are applied to the globe core by hand with authentic construction and detail.
